Infection Control, Level 1 & 2

This 1/2 day session will provide evidence based advice and understanding regarding infection control and prevention. This will be tailored specifically for both clinical and non-clinical staff working across primary and community care settings. Participants will be able to develop an understanding of micro-organisms, and how they cause disease, as well as identifying their individual role in relation to preventing infections within this unique setting.

Course Content

  • Understanding microorganisms
  • How microbes cause disease
  • Identification of the immune system and how the body protects itself
  • Understanding the microbiology of bacteria and their differentiation
  • Healthcare Acquired Infection
  • Infection prevention and infection control measures - how we can protect our patients/clients
  • Increased incidence of infection and outbreak management
  • Management of exposure to blood bourne infections
  • Safe handling during personal care
  • Demonstration of good practice guidelines (NICE guidelines), national initiatives

    Course Assessment

    A multi choice exam. Upon successful completion, the delegate will be awarded a certificate, which is valid for 1 year.
